About the Opportunity
The Accounting Director brings strong organizational/administrative skills and will be a hands-on manager with a roll-up-the-sleeves style. The Accounting Director will not be afraid to get into the details; will enjoy a small company atmosphere; and will have a spirit of pitching in to get the job done. As the Accounting Director, you will be comfortable in an environment with lean staffing and a proven track record of excelling in an environment where decisions are made quickly, and opportunities are seized
Duties & Responsibilities
- Be a trusted and valued business partner to the CFO and other executive and functional leaders. Work in a team environment and at times act as bridge between other management executives
- Work closely with CFO and other teammates to achieve company objectives, control costs, develop and/or monitor business performance metrics, and enable business growth and expansion
- Oversee all accounting operations including supervising accounting staff and developing and implementing accounting policies and procedures
- Partner with Operations and Finance leaders and teammates to ensure cost accounting/revenue recognition is in accordance with GAAP or applicable international standards
- Ensure efficient and effective performance in all aspects of finance and accounting and act as the month- and year-end close czar by setting expectations, establishing a continuous improvement standard around controls and processes, and meeting or exceeding financial reporting deadlines
- Maintain internal controls over processes that affect financial & related reporting, including but not limited to, ensuring all transactions are recorded in a timely manner and properly valued; unrecorded items are properly accrued; all recorded and accrued items are real; and all recorded and accrued items are properly classified and disclosed
- Prepare and review monthly reconciliations including analysis of all balance sheet accounts and income statement accounts
- Efficiently manage the administrative functions of the company, including finance and accounting systems
- Assist in developing, analyzing, and presenting consolidated and consolidating financial reports in an accurate and timely manner, clearly communicating monthly and annual financial statements, providing accurate, concise and insightful reporting and forecasting of the financial position of the company
- Coordinate and lead the annual audit process, liaise with external auditors, ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal tax and regulatory agencies
- Help manage third-party relationships with lenders including preparation of bank covenants and monthly lender packages
- Oversee accounting and financial integration activities related to potential M&A activities
- Provide oversight to hiring, training, and retaining of skilled accounting staff
- Provide ad hoc financial reporting to management as requested

About You
Requirements & Qualifications
- Audit, compliance, general ledger, financial reporting, and acquisition accounting experience strongly preferred
- Prior experience as a Controller and working with a private equity owned company strongly preferred
- Track-record of success leading the accounting function at a fast paced, high growth provider healthcare services companies with strong preference
- Proven ability to transition a growing company to new processes and structure to ensure compliance and effective operations and controls
- Strong preference to have working knowledge of several ERP systems; experience with NetSuite is a plus
- Demonstrated success with obtaining and managing bank debt is preferred
- Solid accounting and reporting skills; candidates will have a thorough understanding of GAAP accounting and internal controls; will have demonstrated an ability to effectively allocate costs; will be capable of developing and delivering timely financial metrics for executive management and private equity investors to use in running and monitoring the business
- Leadership; a demonstrated ability to develop followership and gain the confidence and trust of the rest of executive management and the company’s employees
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; must possess a style that fosters teamwork and demonstrates comfort working in an environment where others’ ideas are respectfully challenged to arrive at a better outcome
- Advanced knowledge in the use and customization of financial software applications, databases, spreadsheets including Excel
- Excellent management skills, especially across different geographies; the ability to recruit, train and grow a team that includes company employees and external service providers; excellent collaboration skills; someone who inspires trust and excellence
- Confidence, humility, and good judgment; must be capable of acting as a trusted partner and advisor to the management team
- Customer service mentality; effective listener, responsive, and proactive
- Goal orientated
- Must be a self-starter who is comfortable being held accountable and holding others accountable
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Highest personal integrity
- Bachelor’s degree
- Graduate degree in accounting, finance, or business would be an added plus
- At least 10 years of accounting/finance and prior Controller experience
- CPA preferred
